Attributed to Nicholas Condy Sr. (British, 1799-1857), first quarter 19th c; 'Fisher folk on Beach," oil on board depicting fishermen working on boats, apparently unsigned. Provenance: from the Estate of a prominent Atlanta businessman; acquired at Jonathan Cooper, Park Walk Gallery (London) circa 1990s; acquired at The Canon Gallery (then in Petworth, West Sussex, now near Oundle, Northamptonshire); acquired at Sotheby's, Billinghurst, West Sussex. Provenance: From the Estate of a prominent Atlanta businessman. (Frame) h. 14.75", w. 17" d. 1.75" (Board) h. 9", w. 11.5".
Condition
Examined with blacklight. Not examined out of frame. Scattered small areas of inpainting in the clouds. Heavy varnish. Frame; scattered chips to gilt.
