Description
Clainpanain-Dupont Fils (French, active in Lille 1840-1850), second quarter 19th century. Louis Philipe gilt bronze figural clock modeled as a seated fisherman wearing a phrygian cap holding his net, the enameled dial with Roman numerals, on rais-de-coeur decorated base, rising on front scrolled acanthus feet. The dial marked "Clainpanain Dupont Fils" and "A Lille", the mechanisim stamped "PC" and "4989". Approx. h. 16", w. 14", d. 7".
Condition
Minor wear to gilding; hinge on front door is loose; rear door is difficult to secure; minor chips around key holes; clock did not run during testing - would recommend a professional servicing; key is present.
