THALBERG SIGISMOND: (1812-1871) Austrian Composer and virtuoso Pianist. A curious A.L.S., `S. Thalberg´, one page, 8vo, n.p., 7th March, n.y., to Monsieur Masset, in French. Thalberg refers to an issue with his wife related to a libretto, stating `Vous savez que lorsque cette petite disenssion a eu lieu a cause du Don Pasquale, ma femme a exigé que je lui fasse cadeau du manuscript. Je le lui ai demandé, et elle me l´a refusé! Avec la meilleure volonté, je ne puis donc rien faire, et je le regrette car pour moi c´est une perte de 5000 francs´ (''You know that when this little dissension took place because of Don Pasquale, my wife demanded that I give her the manuscript as a gift. I have asked her for the manuscript, and she refused! With my best will, I can´t therefore do anything, and I regret it because for me it is a loss of 5000 francs'') Small overall minor age wear with an extremely small tear to the upper edge, otherwise G Diabelli edited in 1850 Thalberg´s Grande Fantasy for piano, op.67, based on Donizetti´s opera Don Pasquale (1843)
