Africa and world travels 100+ postcard collection from 1940s Missionary family. Subject matter includes tourist sites, village and city life, places of historical significance, recreation, nautical and military themes from England, Germany, China, "The Orient," Italy, Salisbury, Puerto Rico, Pompei, Peru, Niagra Falls, New York, Mexico, Massachusetts, and more. Provenance: from Taylor University's Mabel P. Michel Collection. Proceeds benefit Taylor University endowed scholarship funds. Mabel was born in 1904 on a farm near Cresco, Iowa. She served as a missionary to Mozambique from 1930-1973, including furloughs under the Women's Foreign Missionary Society. During vacations she taught classes to girls in the villages and did some traveling to many places in Africa, including Rhodesia, Congo, Cape Town, Johannesburg, and Egypt. 4" x 6" (one card)
