Two Edo Period Japanese Woodblock Print Diptychs
Edo period (1615-1868), the first by Utagawa Kunisada (Japanese, 1786-1865), two prints from a triptych of two ladies in kimono and a dapper dressed man in an interior scene where they are painting, the outdoor veranda overlooks a flowering cherry blossom tree, grain of paper visible on the standing lady's robe, each sheet signed "Kunisada" with censor seal and publisher seal, title of triptych in upper right of sheet in red rectangular register, and the second by Toyohara Kunichika (Japanese, 1835-1900), a diptych of two samurai with an elegantly dressed lady, pine trees in the background, signed Kunichika to each sheet, censor seal, and publisher marks, identification of actors in registers above. both are framed with mats in same manner, not examined outside of the frame.

Kunisada print with some light fading to color; some spots of discoloration; some wear to visible edges; worm hole to paper above title; Kunichika print with some discoloration and surface dirt; some light foxing; some light fading to color; mat with foxing and dirt.
