Item Details

Description

A Dietz Vesta "short" model lantern with a date code of S-8-41 for 1941. It is very clean and shows no soot at all. It is clearly stamped N.Y.S.&W. on the lid. The New York Susquehanna and Western was a short line reaching from the Hudson River out to Scranton, Pennsylvania via a subsidiary in Pennsylvania. It was a well known commuter line in Northern New Jersey and has always been a railfan favorite. This lantern is form the Phil Simms collection and it has an blue unmarked globe with both Vesta and Corning Cnx faint castings. It displays very well.
