A Royal Crown Derby porcelain special commission part dinner service and matching flatware in the Vine Heliotrope pattern
circa 1955

Comprising twenty-one 10 1/4in dinner plates; fifteen 9 1/8in luncheon plates; thirty-six 8 1/4in salad plates; fifteen 9in soup bowls; nine scalloped 8 1/2in dessert plates; two covered soup tureens; three sauce boats and under plates; three 11 3/4in circular serving plates; four oval serving plates, width 12 3/4in; three oval serving bowls with scalloped edge; one oval platter, width 14 3/4in; one circular platter, diameter 14 1/4in and a cigarette box; centered by figures and camels in desert landscapes, with monogram KA to the lavender borders, green printed factory mark above pattern name; the flatware comprising twelve 7 3/4in dinner forks; twelve 8 1/2in dinner knives; twenty-four cream soup spoons; twenty-four 6 7/8in fish forks; twenty-four 8in fish knives; twenty-four 7in fruit knives; twenty-four 6 1/4in fruit forks; six 6 1/2in cheese servers; six 6 1/4in butter spreaders; one 9 1/4in cold meat fork; one 11 1/4in fish server; one 13 3/4in carving knife; two 10 1/2in carving forks and four honing steels.

Condition
The service overall with wear from use including scattered abrasions, some mild staining and crazing, some hairlines visible and wear to gilding and decoration. Twenty-one 10 1/4in dinner plates: Typical wear from use, some scattered crazing and knife marks to centers. One plate with heavy crazing and hairlines visible. One plate with approximate 1in hairline at rim. One plate with approximate 6in long hairline emanating from rim. One plate with heavy crazing and darkened hairline following footrim. One plate with approximate 6in darkened hairline at center. Otherwise generally good condition with typical wear. Fifteen 9 1/8in luncheon plates: One plate restuck with some chip losses along the repair and glue residue visible. Two plates with heavy crazing and darkening. One plate with some darkening to underside. One plate with crazing and hairline following the footrim. Thirty-six 8 1/4in salad plates: One plate with heavy darkened crazing patches and a hairline emanating from the area. One plate with darkened hairline through center. One plate with darkened hairline to outer center. A few plates with some blackening to underside. Typical wear including some darkening to gilding and a few scattered abrasions. Fifteen 9in soup bowls: Six bowls with some blackening to the undersides, one of which has a three inch darkened hairline, another with an inch long hairline and another with three hairlines, the longest extending approximately 3 inches. The other bowls in generally good condition with typical wear including some darkening to gilding and a few scattered abrasions. Nine scalloped 8 1/2in dessert plates: In generally good condition with very light wear and some mild crazing. Two covered soup tureens: One lid has been restuck with heavy glue residue visible over the lid in the area. One tureen with chip loss to interior rim and some restuck portions to feet with hairlines visible. Other tureen with multiple discolored hairlines visible to basin, similar repairs to feet (as other tureen) and hairlines visible. Three sauce boats and under plates: All three sauce boats with staining to interior (most visible around foot rim on two), two with hairlines visible, one of which also has a restuck handle and glue residue visible in the area. One under plate with chip to underside of rim. One underplate is probably a pickle dish used as an underplate as it has decoration to the center and a broken handle, with discolored hairline and chip to underside in the corresponding area. Three 11 3/4in circular serving plates: One with approximately ½ x 1/4in chip to rim, otherwise in generally good condition with typical wear including rubbing and scattered abrasions. Four oval serving plates, width 12 3/4in: In generally good condition with typical wear. Three oval serving bowls with scalloped edge: One with heavy crazing with darkening and hairlines visible. Other two with crazing visible. One oval platter, width 14 3/4in: Some heavier wear to rim around center including some abrasions and a fleabite. Some darkening to underside. One circular platter, diameter 14 1/4in: Heavy wear to center, including to gilding and scattered abrasions. Approximate 3in restuck chip to border with glue residue visible. Some small hairlines to outside rim. Cigarette box: One edge and one corner of box restuck with glue residue visible and small chips in the corresponding areas, a third corner with hairline visible with fleabites at the base at top of the line. Flatware: Handles with crazing and wear from use, including wear to gilding, some fleabites. Numerous handles with hairlines.
