Description
A hard to find War of 1812 period American marked model 1812, 1813 Nathan Starr sword, 39inches o/a. An untouched tight 34 inches clipped point blade with a few edge nicks with some signs of age and handling from use. Overall, the sword is very good and tight & solid with a heavy blade. Has, Henry H. Perkins inspector mark “HHP", “P" for proofed, N. STARR makers brand stamp, with a circle “C" believed for the state South Carolina (?), and inspectors “P" stamped on the handle guard, back strap. The iron handle guard has a slot near the pommel for a sword knot or leather grip strap. The handle has about half of its leather on the ribbed wooden grooved grip which was once covered in leather (a high amount of these swords are found missing all handle leather). Condition
Missing some of the leather on the ribbed wooden grooved grip, and the blade has some minor nicks.
