A lot of 12 deaccessioned canes from Florida's St. Petersburg Museum of History - all owned and most made by W. A. Hutchinson of Tarentum, PA, who sought out wood and other materials often with an interesting back story, all wrapped in paper with illustrious and methodical hand written descriptions. Materials used include corn cob, Blackheart Cherry, Pear, Chestnut, Oak, Poplar-Lombardy, Locust, Butternut-White Walnut with unique purported origins such as the ruins of the Frankfort Springs Hotel, Poplar from Robert E. Lee's birthplace, hickory from Jefferson's Monticello with a animated floating turtle in the head, rediscovered wood from the Allegheny River Aqueduct, G. W. Treese Farm in Arcadia, PA,, Charles Farm near Glassmere , PA, walnut from the grandfather of the American Oil Industry Samuel M. Kier's property, and walnut from the Ohio State Prison Fire of 1930. All measure approximately 36" in length.
