Description
Georges Braque (French, 1882 - 1963), "Bird in Flight," linocut, 1961, signed in pencil upper right, with lines from the French poet Rene Char, this piece was part of the Art Lending Service of the Museum of Modern Art, New York, which allowed the public to rent pieces of art selected by the committee, after which they could purchase the piece or return it to the museum, this program existed from 1951 to 1982, this particular linocut was rented to John A Torson, a private art dealer in New York.
