Description
African, Chokwe people of Angola, Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Zambia, finely carved sculpture of Chibinda Ilunga seated on a carved patterned base holding a staff / cisokulu in his left hand and wearing an elaborate headpiece denoting his princely rank; the sculptor worked the grain of the wood skillfully particularly at Ilguna's eyes. Chibinda Ilguna was the first chief of the Mwata Yamvo and the Lunda dyanasties. 14.75" H x 5.75" W x 7" D.
