Description
1/6 plate cased Ambrotype of an Illinois woman who committed suicide April 24th, 1867. Clear image of a seated woman holding a book. A small 2" X 3" piece of calico cloth is in the case. A folded hand written note reads, "Mrs. Elizabeth Sternburg Morgan Mother of Phillip, Erie, and Erwin Morgan. The Calico piece of dress one she had on when she died, she went Insain (sic) cut her throat with a razor and died almost instantly. Razor when found five minutes after still clenched in hand. She had Ovaryan (sic) trouble, and change of life supposed to be the cause." She is buried in Wesley Cemetery in Will County Illinois. Housed in a typical leatherette case in good condition
