Description
Turnbull three box wooden wall subscriber station, Ca. 1896-1897, with carbon pencil transmitter, catch lever automatic switch hook, watch case handle receiver, ringer box key, and probably original "rattlesnake" receiver cord. Marked on nickeled brass name plate on ringer box: "A. R. ROSENBERGER / GEN. MANUF. / TURNBULL TELEPHONE / WASHINGTON D.C. / PATENTED FEB 17, / 1896" Receiver and ringer box assemblies appear complete and original; transmitter box carbon pencil assembly broken but coil present; battery box has leads and battery shelf, no battery. Exterior finish in over all excellent condition, with only slight scratches and nicks. With contemporary plastic label sign reading "TURNBULL TELEPHONE / A VERY RARE 3 BOX SET / USED IN WASHINGTON, D.C. / PATENTED FEB, 23 1886." From the Howard Hazelcorn collection.
