Signed "MAX WEBER '44" lower right, titled in an inscription on the stretcher and on labels from A.P. Rosenberg & Co., Inc., New York, the Los Angeles County Museum, and The Saint Louis Art Museum, all affixed to the back of the frame, with loan labels from the Museum of Modern Art, New York, and the Columbus Gallery of Fine Arts affixed to the back of the frame, and with a label from the Otto L. & Eloise A. Spaeth Foundation, Inc., also affixed to the back of the frame.
Oil on canvas, 32 x 40 in. (81.3 x 101.6 cm), framed.
Condition: Craquelure, flaking with small pigment losses upper left.
Provenance: Property of the Saint Louis Art Museum, sold to benefit the Acquisition Fund.
