Fishing was a popular recreational activity during the 19th century, and this fabulous ensemble of six prints by prominent illustrators of the day captures the immense enthusiasm among American anglers. The collection includes the following works: "Trouting" by J.S. Davis, published in "Every Saturday" (June 10, 1871); "Salmon Fishing in Canadian Waters" by A.B. Frost, published in "Harper's Weekly" (July 21, 1883); "The Fishing Party" by A.B. Frost; "Trout Fishing by A.B. Frost; "Fast to a Big One: Casting for Small-mouthed Blackfish in the Pennsylvania Lakes" by Dan & Beard, published in "Harper's Weekly" (ca. 1902); and "Salmon Fishing" published in "Gleason's Pictorial" (Boston, Saturday, May 20, 1854).
