2 SIGNED JEAN-BAPTISTE CLAUDE SENE FRENCH ARMCHAIRS: Pair of linen upholstered, Horsehair filled armchairs, by Jean-Baptiste-Claude Sene (1747-1803), each signed. Approx. 33.25'' h x 26.5'' w x 22.75'' d. He was a French furniture maker in the 18th century, primarily during the reign of Louis XVI. In 1785 Jean-Baptiste-Claude received the title of fournissur to the royal furniture depot, and made chairs, armchairs, stools, fireplace screens and beds for the Palace of Versailles. the Palace of Fontainebleau, and the Palace of Saint-Cloud. His works were prominent in the private apartments of Marie-Antoinette.
Condition
Minimal scattered loss, age cracks commensurate with age and use.
