Item Details

Description

Ebony and brass, marked for F. Stoppani, London. With what appears to be the original oak case which features painted decoration depicting a Federal eagle with shield and American flags.

Dimensions:The case is 12 1/2" x 11 1/2" x 4".

Provenance:From a Philadelphia collection.

Condition

The octant appears to be in good condition with expected wear, the case has surface wear, shrinkage cracks and the lock is missing. We cannot guarantee that all elements of the octant are present, or that it is functional.
