Description
1851 1ed Pilgrimage of Richard Guildford Holy Land Jerusalem Temple Bethlehem
Richard Guildford was a 15th-century English explorer who was best-known for his pilgrimage to the Holy Land in 1506. The journey took him from Normandy down through Italy, Crete, and Cyprus, Bethlehem, ultimately ended in Jerusalem. Guildford and crew were delivering messages to allow safe passages for fellow pilgrims; however, Guildford died while in Jerusalem.
An account of Guildfords voyage was prepared by Richard Pynson in 1511. And while the 16th-century editions are of the utmost desirability, the 1851 Henry Ellis edition is a highly impressive facsimile edition.
