The sunglasses come with a letter of provenance from Clarine Pate, the wife of the late renowned booking agent and promotional manager Irwin Pate. Pate promoted talent all over the United States and internationally for over four decades, and worked with Elvis and Colonel Tom Parker several times over the years. The letter of provenance states in part, "Irwin worked with Elvis and the Colonel several times over the years before Elvis passed away. After Elvis passed away the Colonel gifted Irwin some articles that belonged to Elvis including the RayBan Sunglasses that Elvis wore. We saved them in our collection ever since."
