The hat has a pleated design crafted of white satin with black velour and ribbon trim. Audrey Hepburn began her career at the age of 21, working as a model. She was noticed by French novelist Collette, who cast her in her Broadway play of "Gigi". She went on to star in her first feature film "Roman Holiday" in 1953, and became the first actress to win an Academy Award, a Golden Globe Award, and a BAFTA Award for a single performance, skyrocketing her to stardom. She remains one of only 12 people who have won Academy, Emmy, Grammy, and Tony Awards. The hat was acquired from the collection of Hollywood costumer Kent Warner, who worked for MGM Studios and is known for 'liberating' props such as the iconic ruby red slippers of "The Wizard of Oz" and Humphrey Bogart's trench coat from "Casablanca".
