Early English ( Edwardian Period) Royal Doulton Hand painted porcelain plate. , C. 1928 Wall or cabinet Plate, signed by Artist lower right, reads Perry , first initial illegible. Made in England. Depicts Tantallon Castle , Cobalt Blue with hand painted scrolls and florals in swirl pattern in 24 k gilt. Gilt rim, scalloped edges. Center medallion is Tantallon Castle, a medieval fortress in Scotland. Hallmarked in green ink under glaze Royal Doulton Made in England with Lion above mark. In blue ink a heart symbol, impressed into plate 1-5-28 handwritten Tantolln Castle. 10.25 in. diameter Many other plates similar to the Royal Doulton were hand painted by landscape artists of the period. Artist ‘Perry’ is thought to be one of those artists.
