Royal Vienna REAL Antique 1750's Teapot Sugar Creamer Beehive Du Paquier ERA
Royal Vienna REAL Antique 1750's Teapot Sugar Creamer Beehive Du Paquier ERA
Item Details
Description
This is an Antique and very early example of Royal Vienna Porcelain.
This set with teapot, creamer/milk jug and sugar bowl is made in middle to late 1700's and it is a fine example of Du Paquier period.
The set is not so thin and luxurious, as the latest pieces of Royal Vienna and definitely is not a copy.
All the pieces are marked with Bindenschild marks in blue under glaze, except the creamer that is not glazed at all.
All the marks are handpained and little different, as you can see at the pictures.
They have decorators identification numbers in blue and all of the numbers are under 27 (a proof that the set is real Royal Vienna, not a forgery).
Some of the pieces have embossed numbers.
According to the extended research I made, the set is probably part of the wares made by Vienna porcelain Factory for the Royal Ottoman court in Istanbul.
In late 1700's the Ottoman court required a large number of coffee wears.
These were typically brightly colored, but less finely painted than those for European markets.
Many were sets of the small cups used for Turkish coffee.
The set includes:
1 (one) Tall Coffee Tea pot - 5" from the spot to the handle and 8 1/4" tall to the tip of the lid.
1 (one) Covered creamer/milk jug - 5" from the spot to the handle and 5 1/2" tall to the tip of the lid.
1 (one) Covered Sugar Bowl - 3 3/4" in diameter and 5" tall to the tip of the lid.
The set is in good antique condition. There is some gold loss, especially on the edges.
There are two small chips on rim of the sugar bowl.
There are the usual manufacturing defects (bubbles and dents) that are normal for ware that old and are consistent with the set's age.
It is really antique and rare piece of Vienna porcelain. It is not easy to find them anymore
Exceptional collector’s piece. Would have a place in any collection.
This is a piece of history that everyone will be proud to have.
Vienna porcelain is the product of the Vienna Porcelain Manufactory, a porcelain manufacturer in Alsergrund in Vienna, Austria. It was founded in 1718 and continued until 1864.
The firm was Europe's second-oldest porcelain factory after Meissen porcelain, and for 25 years the two remained the only European producers. Initially it was a private enterprise, founded by Claude du Paquier, an official of the Viennese Imperial court, but in 1744 it was rescued from financial difficulties when bought by the Empress Maria Theresa, and thereafter remained an asset of the emperors
The wares from the earlier, private period before 1744 are the most sought-after today, if only because production was lower and so the pieces are much more rare. These are often called Du Paquier porcelain from the Du Paquier factory. The other high point, "perhaps the factory's most glamorous period", was from 1784 to 1805 when a variety of innovative wares in broadly Neoclassical styles were produced, then with Sèvres porcelain the main influence.
