Description
This is a grouping of four vintage submarine torpedo models. The first piece is a chrome torpedo displayed on a wood base. It weighs 1 pound and the torpedo comes off the stand and it is 9.75 inches long. The display also comes with a typed note on blue paper that states the following: Type G 7a Model Torpedo said to have been part of a larger highly detailed scale model of a Torpedo automatic loading system at the Marine School at the Nazi U Boat base at Brest. The cradle and base were later constructed with timber and brass from the Marine School and parts of other items removed at the time. I confirm that the above belonged to my late father Cdr P.C.Child R.N. who later became close friends with Donitz.
The second model is a presentation piece on a clear acrylic base with a very detailed chrome torpedo. The base says: Jeanette J. Boucek – Naval Ordnance Station Forest Park Illinois December 1947 to June 1971, weighs 2 pounds 3 ounces, is 7.25 inches long.
The third model is a green plastic torpedo with plastic display stand. The stand says Torpedo Mark 48 Gould Ocean Systems Division. The torpedo is 7.5 inches long.
The forth piece in this grouping is a detailed metal pen that looks like a torpedo. It is 4.25 inches long and is quite detailed, pen has not been tested.
