Description
Insert a coin in the slot and lift the lever on the right side. The coin falls into the bank as the dog opens his mouth as if to bark. Release the lever and the dog closes his mouth. From the Tanenbaum Collection. Painted cast iron. In working order. The screw located on the door that would have originally held the inside bellows in place (allowing the dog to "bark") is missing. Most of the original paint that decorated the raised bird and floral motif on the top as well as the other raised features has been worn away. The dog and Roman figures exhibit moderate to heavy losses while the sides and door show moderate paint loss and resulting oxidation. American (Cromwell, CT., USA). C1890. 6" H x 4.5" W x 4.5" D.
