Item Details

Description

Hand made model of the original Bluenose fishing and racing schooner. Built in 1921 in Nova Scotia, she was made to fish in challenging waters but quickly became famous around the world for winning races. After years of fame in the 1920s and 30s, she became a tramp schooner in the Caribbean and was wrecked off the coast of Haiti in 1946. "Made in Canada" in crude hand painted letters on the rudder. Includes stand, which is affixed to a large base with a brass plaque. Ship, approx: 35" L x 27" H x 5" W. Base, approx. 16 1/4" x 47 1/2".
