DESCRIPTION: Pair of matching sancai guardian lions ("foo dogs")-one male holding an embroidered ball beneath its forepaws and facing right, one female holding a playful cub beneath its forepaws and facing left. Each lion stands atop a pedestal, each side of which has a pierced four-pointed star form and meandering angular lines along its base. From the estate of Palm Beach collector, Ronald Brown. Dimensions are as follows:
