Circa 3rd Century AD A finelly modelled gold ring, that possibly of a child, formed of a flat tapering band with scrolled form around the bezel. The bezel is raised and set with a cabochon garnet.Ref: Scarisbrick & Henig, Finger Rings. p.25, fig 2.The item has undergone X-ray fluorescence analysis to confirm the metallurgical content suggesting its ancient origin and lack of modern trace elements. Size: D: 15.4mm / US: 4 5/8 / UK: J; 3.7g Provenance: Property of a London Ancient Art Gallery; formerly in the famous Alison Barker collection, a retired London barrister; acquired between early 1960s to 1990s.
