Description
Columbus Landing Carved Relief on Engraved Silver Mount. This carved wall-mounted plaque appears to commemorate the landing of Christopher Columbus on American territory. It depicts the Spanish "Castile and Leon" flag being planted by a central figure (presumably Columbus, who is sometimes depicted bearded) surrounded by missionaries, natives, and others as they are traditionally shown in conventional representations of this scene. Nicely framed in decorative gold-colored scrollwork over an ornately engraved silver frame.
