Title: 1711 Signed Marlborough Court Martial

Description: Original manuscript of four pages of the Court Martial proceeding against Captain James Ennis of "Pocock's Regiment" for maltreating his superior officer and neglecting his orders. The offended officer was Sir Robert Montgomery who later developed the scheme for the colonization of the Carolinas. The Court Martial includes account of testimony and is signed by the presiding office Colonel John Selwyn and also signed by John Churchill (1650-1722), the Duke of Marlborough. Rare original document in Very Good condition with light discolorationmild wear. Accompanied by a ful transcript and a book dealer's description. Measures 8 x 12.5".
