The Louis Vuitton Monogram canvas is one of the most recognizable textiles in luxury brands. This trunk's canvas is stenciled in golden yellow in the iconic Monogram canvas which was originally developed by Georges Vuitton in 1896.

Condition:The overall condition is good with the following:Structural Issues: There are several broken twill tapes on the padded lid interior. The bottom edges of the trunk has some areas where the canvas has worn away or is thinning. The left handle is bent but is still fully functional. the top compartmented tray lids are slightly misshapen but functional.Split/Separated Seams: The tray linings are started to peel from the corners of each but still mostly intact and the lining near the interior trunk side hinges is warping and peeling from the sides. Losses: The leather buckled over strap is missing. The wood slats are mostly intact but are scratched and with some indentations. The metal hardware is pitted and misshapen due to heavy usage throughout especially on the right side lid edge, though nothing that affects operation of the trunk. The smaller compartment tray is missing two dividers, one in each lidded compartment. Fading/Color Change: The canvas and lacquered leather on the exterior has darkened in various areas though it is darkest on the top of the lid. The interior lining has darkened around the sides of the lid, top and base of the bottom of the trunk as has the removable trays. Soiling/Spots: The lining of the trunk has various areas of soiling: along the perimeter of the lid, the sides near the hardware hinge, the bottom base edges, both the larger and smaller lined tray edges as well as the top compartment try with a white encrusted soiled spot in the middle compartment, and an overall darkening to the strap tray. Corrosion/Tarnish: The lacquered leather trim has several roughed spots throughout the lid and upper part of the trunk. Several of the brass tacks on the interior padded lid have verdigris especially those around the perimeter. Repairs/Alterations: the top canvas on the lid has 8 darkened lines where it appears the canvas was repaired and put back together. Everything is sold 'As Is'. The stated overall condition of the lot is based on the assumption that the wear is consistent with age and use. The absence of any reference to the condition of a lot does not imply that the lot is in perfect condition or completely free from wear and tear, imperfections, or the effects of aging.
