Gerald Thurston (American, 1914-2005), Tension Pole Lamp
for Lightolier, 1960s, brushed brass tension poles, walnut veneered shaft with polished aluminum mounts, upper three light torchiere with original striped glass shade, two adjustable directional off-white painted shades with ring diffusers, marked Lightolier.
107 x 20 x 20 in.
One of Gerald's lamps was shown in the 1950 Good Design Exhibition at MoMA. Also in 1950 he began a 30 year career with Lightolier, of which he would become internationally recognized for his Scandia Collection.
