Item Details
Description
North Carolina Currency
1748 North Carolina "Winged Stirrup" Vignette Note
North Carolina. April 4, 1748. Thirty Shillings. "Winged Stirrup" vignette, with full "1748" date, PCGS graded Fine-15.
Fr. NC-68. One of Only 2,000 30 shilling notes printed. The "Winged Stirrup" vignette is on the 30 Shillings denomination. The original engraved plate was reused and reengraved from the literally "unobtainable" prior 1734 and 1735 North Carolina issues. Its PCGS holder notes splits, tears, damage and repairs, pieces replaced, stains, backed. This note has pleasing eye appeal for the Fine-15 grade. Its printed text is bold and fully printed on the paper, having a sharp full "1748" date and "Winged Stirrup" vignette. Scarce and better appearing than it sounds.
