Description
French or Italian, late 19th century to early 20th century. Carved giltwood and gesso console table in the Louis XV rococo taste, having marble top, pierced scrolled foliate rocaille apron decorated with fruited garlands, and rising on cabriole legs with scrolled stretcher centering on a putto. Unmarked. Note: A Foster Studio (Richmond, VA) photograph, dated 1937 depicting this table and the original owner, Emily Winship Woodruff (1867-1939), mother of Robert Winship Woodruff, accompanies this lot. Approx. h. 36.5", w. 68", d. 21".
Condition
Scattered repairs to carved wood, gilt loss, newer supports and small flea bites to marble.
