47x36 cm (18½x14") photograph tipped onto backing board. Also included is a modern digital reprint of the original photograph.

One of only ten Sikorsky S-42 Clippers ever built, and the evolution of the S-40, which was test-flown by Lindburgh. Of the ten, this photograph shows a flight of the West Indies Clipper, later renamed the Pan American Clipper and the Hong Kong Clipper. It was this aircraft which made the first survey flight from Alameda, California to Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, in 1935.

Condition

Photograph has been creased from previous storage, with light rubbing on creases and small closed tears to edges; else very good.
