Faberge letter opener, with enameled handle, nephrite jade blade, gilt decoration and ruby style stone inserts as eyes on an owl's face, marked "H.W." "88" and with the Faberge mark. Comes in it's Original box. Wigstrom, Henrik was born in Ekenäs, Finland, a Finnish work master who became head work master upon Michael Perchin's death in 1903, thereby assuming responsibility for the imperial Easter eggs. Wigström was particularly adept at designing cigarette cases, frames and figurines, which were produced in large number during the firm's most productive years. Wigström's style is characterized by echoes of the Louis XVI and Empire (style) periods. The metal standard in Russian zolotniks: for silver 84 and 88 . Measures 9 1/2" length (24.1cm).
