1889/1672 Colonial LAWS of Massachusetts Witch Trials Americana 1660 Boston
In 1672, the State of Massachusetts published a complete description of the laws of the state. This work was continually published throughout the centuries in Boston, much in part to the inclusion of laws pertaining to Native American Indians. These declarations were written with the hopes of civilizing and converting the natives. It also contains a section dedicated to witches and the consequences of witchcraft.
“if any man or woman be a witch, that is, hath or consulteth with a familiar spirit they shall be put to the death.” (p.14)
Other laws consisted of rules of magistrates, responsibilities of the Boston governor, and much more.
This 1887 edition was published in Boston, printed from the original 1672 edition.
