Robert Spear Dunning
Massachusetts, New Hampshire, 1829-1905
Fall River School depiction of peaches, a pear, and bundles of red and green grapes glistening under light. Dunning was a founder alongside John E. Grouard of the Fall River School in Massachusetts best known for his realist trompe l'oiel paintings. Dunning studied under James Roberts before studying at the National Academy of Design in New York under Daniel Huntington. His works were exhibited in the National Academy of Design, the American Art Union, and the Boston Art Club among others.

Signed and dated "R. S. Dunning 1896" on verso, signed and dated "R.S.D. 96" lower right corner.
Condition
Painting appears to be in overall good condition with no craquelure, scuffs, chips, or stretcher marks, frame with minor losses, scratches and areas with loss to gilt. Overall presents beautifully.
