Description
Queen Anne-style gilt wood and verre eglomise overmantel mirror, possibly by Lenygon, early 20th century, with triple plates divided by gold-colored strapwork strips, the arched frame decorated in gold on red and blue ground depicting armorial devices, animals and signs of Zodiac. This mirror seems to be a direct copy of a chimney glass circa 1700-1720 illustrated in A. Bowett, Early Georgian Furniture 1715-1740, Woodbridge, 2009, p. 273, pl. 6:11.
