Description

Continental, likely French, late 19th / early 20th century. Pair of brass and patinated metal sphinx form chenets resting on plinth with mask decoration and terminating in spiral feet. Apparently unmarked. Approx. h. 9", w. 3.25", d. 10.5"

Condition

Overall with oxidation and gilt loss, commensurate with age and usage. Few spiral feet need reinforcing. Scattered wear to surface. Stable crack to front applique mask. Loose panels on sides --- not distracting.
