Description
The circular openwork plate with four finely cut site vanes is housed in a primitive dovetailed oak case of the period having forged iron hasp and hinges secured by crude rose head nails.
The 18th century Continental brass circle is positioned on an 18th century tripod with turned maple head joined to oak legs by wood peg construction.
Measures 55 x 9.5 x 9.5 inches.
Provenance: The estate of a collector active in Historical Re-enactment, Surveying the Frontier, Scientific Instruments. Lewis and Clark.
