A Japanese Lacquer Picnic Set Sagejubako
Meiji period (1868-1912), black lacquer decorated in gilt and gold hiramaki-e with a pair of phoenixes and paulownia tree to top and sides, sides decorated with reticulated old style fan with faux bamboo center, fitted with a sake flask, box above, four compartment food storage boxes decorated with illustrated books, and above five plates decorated with a flock of birds, with metal handle to top.
