Lot includes two black and white photos of African American baseball players Ted "Double Duty" Radcliffe and Jim "Candy" Taylor as shown and also includes a Feller Library stamped book "GET THAT NIGGER OFF THE FIELD" by Art Rust Jr. An informal History of the Black Man in Baseball 1976 First printing, First Edition as shown. Art Rust was a successful sports broadcaster for a half a century. After he graduated from Long Isiland Univertisty. Art began in their merchandising department, but within two months he got on the air. At WWRL, Rust hosted the Schaefer Circle of Sports for 14 years, becoming one of the first African American sportcasters. At WWRL, Rust interviewed sports icons such as Hank Aaron and Sonny Liston. A music lover, Rust mixed up shows with interviews with artists like James Brown and Miles Davis, who was also a close friend In 1967, Rust landed a position as a sports announcer for NBC-TV. After some six years with NBC, Rust decided to return to the radio. Bob was named 'The Greatest Pitcher' of his time for the Cleveland Indians and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1962. He played 18 seasons for the Indians, was an 8 time 'All Star' and ranked 36 out of 100 in the list of 100 of the Greatest Baseball Players in the 'Sporting News'. At the age of 23 he was the first American professional athlete to enlist in the military the day after the attack on Pearl Harbor. Art Rust Jr
