Daumier, after Honore (French, 1808-1879), Le General Schlagmann, s'imaginant que le costume…, 1859, lithograph on paper, signed in the plate H.D. lower left and 56 lower right, image 8.75 x 10.5 inches, matted and framed 16 x 20 inches, full caption reads: "Le general Schlagmann, s'imaginant que le costume donne du courage, et voulant a tout prix se procurer aussi des zouaves, se determine a travestir quelgues uns de ses croates en turcs!..." Provenance: From the Vincent Price Collection, Sears, Roebuck and Co., with label to reverse.
Condition
In generally good condition apart from pale acid staining, and small spots of foxing throughout, unexamined outside of frame.
