A FLEMISH BAROQUE MYTHOLOGICAL VERDURE TAPESTRY, LATE 17TH CENTURY, of rectangular form and woven in polychrome silk and wool, possibly depicting Cephalus holding Procris in his arms while seated beneath tall trees in a verdant garden with the hunting hound Laelaps at their feet, before a distant mountain top castle and enclosed by a conforming broad border of lilly blooms amidst assorted leafy flowers, flanked by sides of blossoming stemmed clusters centering shaped cartouches framing a lone tree in a landscape, verso stitched brown protective cover and circular bronze suspension loops. Condition
Good restored condition for tapestries of this age, use, and material including but not limited to normal uneven colors, faded areas, repairs, restorations, some loose threads, possibly reduced in size, top and base borders are later, brown cloth covering on the back is modern, and professionally cleaned.
