Description
A CONTEMPORARY SILVER PAINTED METAL TREE BRANCH FORM FLOOR LAMP, in the style of Alberto Giacometti and cast as a tall thin branchless tree trunk and raised on twig form tripod feet, unmarked and fitted for electricity, height: 47 1/2", with electrical fittings/finial height: 60 1/4", diameter: 19". Note: Alberto Giacometti (Swiss 1901-1966) a world renown sculptor and artist whose designs for furniture are still influential to this day. His use of elements found in nature such as a tree branch, or twigs, were very simple yet effective and proved popular when he conceived the idea around the mid-1930s. His "Feuille" floor lamp which debuted circa 1936, appears to have been an inspiration for the floor lamp offered here differing little save for the tripod feet which are twig form while his "Feuille" design is a more restrained style utilizing flat banded tripod feet.
