Group of Three Mid-19th C. Images, Two Clipped CDVs and One Ambrotype

A group of three mid-19th century photographs, composed of an ambrotype and two clipped cartes-de-visite. Excellent for any vintage collector. Includes the following:

Ninth Plate, measuring 2" x 2.5", No place, undated. A clipped carte-de-visite of a seated young woman, housed in a leather-bound wooden case.

Sixth Plate, measuring 2.75" x 3.25", No place, undated. A clipped carte-de-visite of a bearded man wearing a three-piece suit. Housed in a metal and leather custom case.

Half Plate, measuring 4.25" x 5.5", No place, undated. An ambrotype image of a seated woman, wearing a black dress and resting her arm on a small table. Housed in a leather-covered wooden case, missing the front cover. Inside the case is a preserved lock of hair, presumably from the woman pictured.

Wear to all three cases, with the front cover of one having become separated. One case is slightly cocked. Silvering to the ambrotype Half Plate edges. Minor imperfections to all, but overall very good.

Ambrotypes, patented in 1854, were created through a process that produced a negative image that became visible when the glass was backed by black material. For an ambrotype, the dark areas remain dark when held at an angle, distinguishing them from daguerreotypes.
