Description
Sturdy Low Walnut Table Purchased by Monroe on trip to Mexico in February 1962, to furnish Marilyn Monroe's newly acquired home at 1235 Fifth Helena in Brentwood, CA, the home where she would die after only six months' residence. This table, which appears in photos of the home, has a very sturdy octagonal frame with scrolled legs, scalloped bottom stretchers, thick slab round top, 26" tall, 54 1/2" diam. Some stains to top. Built to last, with cross bracing on the underside, you could literally dance on this table. Provenance: Purchased at auction after Monroe's death by Dr. Gilbert Nunez and his wife Betty, they were given the option of purchasing any furniture they would like. This table was in their possession from September1963 until purchased by Julien's vendor. It was sold in among other pieces from 2009-2011.
