An antique marble sculpture, Bust of a Young Girl, after the famous oil painting by Dapres Jean Baptiste Greuze (French, Italian, 1725-1805). Etched, Dapres Greuze, on the back. Jean Baptiste Greuze was active/lived in France, Italy. Jean Baptiste Greuze is known for History, sentimental middle class domestic genre, and sensuous female portrait painting. An 18th-century painter of melodramatic genre, morality lessons, female figures, and portraits whose subjects included Mozart and Benjamin Franklin, and others. Provenance: The present lot on auction form part of the Kuranda's family estate. The provenance of items can be tracked back to Felix Kuranda in XIX Century Austrian Empire, member of a well known family of bankers and politicians; directly related to the Karpeles, Wittelshofer, Milne And Lederer families. The most chronological recent lots are former belongings from USA veteran Major Thom Stellinger-Scott related through marriage with the Kuranda lineage. He was a veteran of Korean War as well as a reputed amateur photographer and artist. The Stellinger-Scott family resided for decades at Montauk Long Island NY. Antique sculptures and collectibles.
