Description
French Gilt Bronze Model of the “Arc de Triomphe” with removable top forming a box and well detailed miniature castings of the Francoise Rude Sculptures and all the details of various other artist's works, the oval base with sunken Cannons chained together; signed twice under cover LEBLANC FRERES and again inside edge of base and to bottom, circa 1880. Height 9 1/2 inches (24 cm.) X width of oval base 11 1/4 inches (28.5 cm.). NOTE: The Arc de Triomphe was opened in 1836. This piece is dated circa 1880 since by 1892, the name of the bronze company was changed to Leblanc-Barbedienne.
Condition
Age related wear and most gold left uncleaned, 2 lengths of chain between sunken cannons loose.
