Description
An American folk art knock-down doll carnival game having 15 carved wooden Black figures in original cloth costumes, attached to wooden stand in original paint. At the carnival or fair, a customer would toss a ball at the figures, and when hit, the figure would fall backwards - the vendor would reset the dolls to a standing position after each customer is finished throwing his/her allotment of balls by simply pulling a rope attached to a pulley at the back of the display (see photos). The stand, in original gray paint, folds for easy transportation, and is in good condition as are the figures - the clothing covering the figures is tattered and with losses. Circa 1930-50. Measures 54 1/2"W x 10"D (open position) x 4 1/4"D (closed position) x 63 /4"H - the dolls are 13"H and can be unscrewed from cross board if desired.
